ZZK Records Presents Luiza Lian’s Eu Estou Aqui

The Brazilian artist is about to release her new album and paves the way with a manifesto about presence.
After releasing the brazilian acclaimed "Azul Moderno", Winner of the "Best Album of the Year" award from the prestigious Brazilian critics' prize "APCA" and TV prize "Multishow" (best record) among others and listed in Rolling Stone as one of the top 10 albums of the year. Luiza Lian is back with an album composed in 2019 that speaks a lot about the moment we have been experiencing since 2020. The shock and trauma we have gone through in these years resonate deeply with the theme of the new album, which was meticulously worked on by Luiza and her producer, Charles Tixier, throughout this turbulent period we are going through. Unlike the previous album, this new one, titled "7 Estrelas | Quem Arrancou o Céu," the fourth album by the São Paulo artist, is a work conceived and created solely by the two of them, without external collaborations (with the exception of one song). And the first step in this new journey is "Eu Estou Aqui" (I Am Here).
"Eu Estou Aqui", the opening single that paves the way for Luiza Lian's new album, a spoken word song with influences ranging from Brazilian jazz to Andean folklore, with references to Jorge Ben Jor and Manu Chao. A track that, through deep layers of samples, reflects on the crisis of presence and the lack of certainties that the rapid transformations of the world, climate destruction, and times of polarization and war bring to the contemporary human being. The music manages to be both a political and spiritual act, a manifesto and a questioning of presence in our times. Thus, it is the manifesto of a Brazilian artist facing the dismantling of humanity in modern times.
The first single marks the moment when the album becomes less synthetic and more organic, with Luiza returning to her spoken poetry, raising questions that sound as absurd as they are unanswered ("Where is the end of the world? What time does the future arrive? How high is this wall?"), while also paying homage to Ataulfo Alves by singing "Morre o homem, fica o drama" (The man dies, the drama remains) instead of "fica a fama" (fame remains), as in the original samba.
"I feel that this song is like a manifesto about the album and also about the importance of presence and the lack of presence," explains the singer and songwriter, emphasizing that the new album also addresses this virtual and plastic era we currently live in. "It's the moment to say 'I exist,' despite the world coming to an end, despite people being lost in their mirrors, we are still here, we still live and die, the mystery remains a mystery, life and death with their gift and disorientation." And this is only the first step of the new album.

Eu Estou Aqui single is out now on all digital platforms.
7 Estrelas | quem arrancou o céu? will be released on all digital platforms on July 28th, 2023

lyrics

Pode ser que eu esteja aqui por todos os motivos errados
Mas eu estou aqui
A vida me veste e me despe
em seu bel delírio e movimento
Eu estou aqui

Terra plana
carro enguiçado
Rio de lama
Mar envenenado

Eu estou aqui

Onde é o fim do mundo?
Que horas chega o futuro?
Qual altura desse muro?

talvez eu seja livre

Talvez não…

Mas eu estou aqui
Eu estou aqui
Eu estou aqui

História mal contada
Memória distorcida
Beijo mal dado
Romance esquisito

Eu estou aqui

Tudo tudo tudo tudo tudo tudo
Nada nada nada nada nada nada
Nothing even matters mama
Can I walk with you my brother?

Eu estou aqui

Sobe o prédio
Desce o pano
(escadas para o céu
Não são entradas para deus)

Deus Ajuda
Quem não espana

(morre o homem,
Fica o drama)

English

I Am Here

It may be that I'm here for all the wrong reasons
But I am here
Life dresses me up and undresses me In its own beautiful delirium and movement
I am here
Flat earth Broken-down car Muddy river Poisoned sea
I am here
Where is the end of the world?
What time does the future arrive?
How high is this wall?
No matter how deep the sea, it has a bottom

I am here

Narcissus never lived
Nor did Echo go crazy in a collage
But here we are as its children
Ghosts and mirages
Dataists Freak Control Dataists Freak Control Dataists Freak Control
Don't be deceived…
The mystery isn't a date
My mind shines DADA
A bet on the absurd
A shot into the abyss
An idea without purpose
A possibility

I am here

Will we ever have peace?
Will we ever have peace?
Will we ever have peace?
Will we ever have peace?

I'm here

Free from materiality or free from this endless cycle Of reproducing my own image
Perhaps I'll be free
Perhaps not...
But I am here
I am here
I am here

Poorly told story
Distorted memory
Badly given kiss
Strange romance

I am here

Everything
Everything
Everything
Everything
Everything
Everything
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing

Nothing even matters, mama
Can I walk with you, my brother?
I am here

The building rises The curtain falls
(Stairways to heaven Are not entrances to God)
God helps Those who don't sweep
(The man dies, The drama remains)
