Dat Garcia releases “Cada uno con su bandera” (“Each To Their Own”), the second single from her new record Las Fuerzas Almadas, to be released by ZZK Records in April 2022.
Smashing all the style barriers, Dat brings us a smooth chacarera-trans-metal beat with synths, bombo legüero and kalimbas, and a verbal proposal for bodies to give themselves up to pleasure without labels.
The body is an anarchic, headless, controversial territory. The body is fluid, silence makes it poetry, no explanation required. Respect for diversity is the key to the new era of authentic beings. Song drawn by Dat with watercolors from Lucy Patané’s guitar.
A territory of your own, a geology of the flesh and sexual choices weave this song like the story we weren’t told as kids, the one where we’re liberated from the membranes of genders and standards, assigned colors and uncertainty.
The release is accompanied by a downloadable children’s book drawn by Dat’s Big Sister, artist Delia Montaña, as an invitation to integration, not just of diversities but also childhoods. It is an attempt to break with the non-inclusive hegemony of an adult-centric world.
